Are You Aging Buoyantly?
Kindness is an Element of the Equation
When I imagine buoyancy, I see a ship floating in the middle of an ocean or a cork immersed in water, then rising to float.
My vision of aging and buoyancy is a person staying afloat in their later decades whether they get pushed down like the cork and resiliently rise to float through their future. The way we age, like the way we live, is largely up to us—it's a powerful choice we get to make every day.
When my writing teacher, Melissa, introduced me to Ellen Webster, there was an instant connection. We share a passion for seeing aging differently than generations before us. When Ellen shared her concept, Age Buoyantly™, I felt urged to interview her for Older, Bolder, & Better! and introduce her to you.
Ellen’s launch message read:
It’s more than a brand. It’s a movement. A gentle rebellion. A calling to women nearing their 60s, 70s, 80s, and beyond who refuse to let these final decades dim their light.
“You see, we’re living in turbulent times. The world feels uncertain. But what if this moment—right here, right now—is also an invitation?
An invitation to rewrite the story of aging.
To shift from treading water to diving deep.
To wake up to the wonder and wisdom still inside us.
That’s the heart of Age Buoyantly™. Through a newsletter and blog, private coaching, small-group circles, and gentle resources, Ellen helps women navigate this chapter with more joy, more meaning, and more choice. She explained, “aging is not a descent—it’s a dive. And there is still so much life to live.”
Ellen leverages her experience of more than 15 years as a HeartMath® Certified Trainer exploring how our heart intelligence helps access intuition. She is also a certified trainer for 15+ years in The Connection Practice. It is a simple framework, with a scientific foundation, for navigating internal conflicts and interpersonal challenges. She leverages both coaching modalities in her work with clients to find joy and purpose.
Ellen was recently featured on the Today Show and ABC News after sending 10,000 thank you notes. She was inspired by John Kralik’s memoir, “A Simple Act of Gratitude: How Learning to Say Thank You Changed My Life.” Take a few minutes to watch the video, you’ll be glad you did.

I’m aging like a rollercoaster: up one hill and down the next! If I reframe, I might see it as buoyant.
