What a vivid picture you have painted of holidays past!! I can still remember the Christmas display windows at Marshall Fields on State Street. Here’s to making more Holiday memories ❤️
How about our “company Christmas lunch(es)” at Cafe Rodeo’ with our window seat near the entrance! We’ve made fun memories of our own during the corporate years. Holiday lunch on Rodeo’ Drive was a favorite.
Remember the girl scout song? Make new friends but keep the old. One is silver the other gold." That's my takeaway from your post! Cherish your fondest holiday traditions but open the door for new and different experiences. Certainly covid taught us that we sometimes have to adapt yet the holidays were still memorable! I am continuing annual Christmas pajamas for the grandkids ... going on 24 years! But someone else gets cookie duty!
I love the Girl Scout song, silver and gold. It’s true about the holidays too, as you mentioned. You’ll have to collage some of the photos of matching jammies for the 25th anniversary! Thanks for reading and commenting!
I received this beautiful note from a reader who gave me permission to post it in the comments:
Hi, Brenda. Thank you for your restorative blog.
As I read it, nostalgia enveloped me.
I read it slowly so I could reminisce about my own holiday season evolution. Thanks for giving me the language for what sometimes feels like the loss of traditions. As I read your blog, I realized that Holiday Season Evolution is not a bad thing.
Just a wonderful article. All thoughtfully described that many can relate to. Happy Holidays!
Looking forward to seeing you “live” tomorrow! Thanks so much for reading and your comment!
